A letter to my son as he starts school

This coming Wednesday, Cohen make his move up to ‘big boy’ school. Any parents that have children at school know the mixture of emotions you experience when sending your child off. I find the best way for me to express my emotions is through writing. So i have written him the following letter.

To my darling boy,

Last night I spent a few hours getting all of your uniform ready for your first day at school Wednesday. Repeatedly you have asked over the past few weeks when your going back to school. It has come around a lot quicker then I thought!

I know that you are going to thrive at school as you love nothing more than learning. You’re going to start making friends and your personality is going to blossom.

Time has gone so fast it only seems like yesterday that you were a tiny 8lb 2oz baby, curled up in my arms. The things that scares me more is that I know that I’m going to blink and you will be 16 leaving school an going off into the big wide world.

I know I will read back this letter and wish you were back being my cheeky little 4 year old.

My experience at school wasn’t the best, but I loved to learn. I see that same love in you and I’m sure that you will have a better experience than I did.

I know that the next few years aren’t going to be exactly as we planned because of COVID, but the best bit is that you don’t know any different. Things are only going to get better for you!

Always remember that me and daddy are always here for you and we will always be your cheerleaders!

I also hope that you remember that you should only change yourself because your growing and not to suit other people’s wants/ needs.

Love you forever and always

Mummy
